This sculpture explores the idea that the surface of an object is related to, but different from the inside. The outer surface is heavily textured suggesting the world having an effect on it, but it is open in several places in order to reveal the organic inner form, protected and smooth. Much like most people who have a public face which is shown to the world, while their inner personality is only seen by their nearest and dearest.
The inner form has been polished to a very smooth tactile surface that reveal micro fossils in the limestone.
